Cardamom is considered to be one of the oldest and most valuable spices in the world, right after saffron and vanilla.  The spice originates from south India and nowadays is also grown in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Tanzania and Brazil.  The pleasant and refreshing taste of cardamom seeds goes well with other herbs and curry spices.  It is an ingredient of many liqueurs and is used for cakes, pastries and milk dishes.
